David's writings -- The 'Mo Letters'
The man and his message
During these travels abroad, David realized that God had a new calling for him, one of providing written counsel, teaching and guidance to his followers from afar. No longer was he to be personally involved in the day-to-day administration of the Children of God. Rather, his role was to remain in seclusion and lead his flock through his writings.
For the remainder of his life, David remained faithful to this calling. As a spiritual leader, he was unique, shunning the spotlight, known only to his followers and the public through his writings, that cane to be known as "The MO Letters" (or The Letters of 'Moses David')
While the Children of God and later The Family rapidly expanded throughout the world, David remained behind the scenes, constantly teaching, advising, guiding, and at times chiding them, all the while applauding their efforts to take the Words and Love of Jesus by whatever means possible to a weary world.
David's writings defined and set apart the Children of God -- and later The Family -- from other Christian groups and denominations. In the last 25 years of his life, nearly 3,000 of his Letters were published. He poured his heart and soul into his writings which as he said left people either "mad, sad, or glad."

Perhaps it was because David had become a channel for the fresh,
new messages that God wanted to give the world.
Here is a fascinating account typical of David's experiences:
In the early days before we even had tape recorders, Maria wrote down all the first letters in shorthand, particularly the revelations during the night, sometimes even writing it all down in the dark. It would always amaze me when I'd wake up in the morning & she'd say, "Remember what happened last night?" I'd say, "What?--Nothing happened, I had a good night's sleep!" But I received some of the most beautiful prophecies I ever got in the middle of the night & wasn't even aware of it! I was totally unconscious! I guess that's the only way the Lord could get through to me like that--when I was unconscious!
Mind you, prior to this time I had never really written anything! I got out a couple of little leaflets to my first (& last) church pastorate, but that's about all. But God finally had to do it supernaturally by almost forcing prophecy through me to give me the true living water for today! He almost forced me to write what needed to be written & to show me that the Bible alone was not enough!
Besides, the Bible to most young people today is an ancient book & even an ancient language, & they can't even understand the old English & peculiar expressions. They don't know anything about it or its history & they can't understand it--but they can understand my Letters! So that's what I'm here for: To speak the language of this modern generation & to reveal to them the Truth of God that they didn't get out of the Bible because they didn't believe it in the first place--or couldn't understand even if they did read it!
